The National Health Service Blood and Transplant (NHSBT) are dedicated to looking after blood donation and transplant services in the UK. NHSBT services include the management of donations, storage of donations as well as the transplantation of blood, organs, tissues, bone marrow and stems cells. NHSBT is also dedicated to caring for donors and recipients, providing therapeutic apheresis and diagnostic services as well as facilitating research and clinical trials.

NHSBT is dedicated to saving and improving as many lives as possible through transplants and transfusions. They aim to raise awareness of the importance of donations and actively encourage people to donate organs, blood, stem cells and tissues to increase the much needed supply. Further to this they optimise the safety and supply of donations and the matching these with patients. In their research and clinical trials, they help to raise the quality, effectiveness and clinical outcomes of blood and transplant services.

Visit the NHSBT website for more information on the different form of donations you can make, join the organ donation register and read true, inspiring stories of patients whose lives have been improved or saves as a result of donation: www.nhsbt.nhs.uk
